๐ŸŒŸ A Slow January at Walter & Nancy Jewellery ๐ŸŒŸ

January always arrives quietly after the sparkle and busyness of December. After weeks of Christmas fairs, late nights in the studio and the excitement of meeting so many lovely customers, the new year feels like a deep breath.

This month is about slowing down, reflecting on what has just passed, and gently turning our attention towards what comes next.

๐ŸŽ„Thank you for a wonderful festive season ๐ŸŽ„

The Christmas fairs really did fly by. I met so many of you in person โ€” some familiar faces and many new ones โ€” and those conversations, stories and shared moments are what make running a small handmade business so special.

Whether you stopped for a chat, tried on a piece, or took something home with you, your support truly means the world to me. Each purchase helps keep this little studio going and allows me to keep making jewellery slowly and thoughtfully.

The colder winter months are perfect for the slow creation of handmade chains.

Slow making: chunky sterling silver chainsโ›“๏ธ

Over the coming weeks, Iโ€™ll be spending a lot of time creating more of my chunky sterling silver chains. These are some of my favourite pieces to make, but they are also some of the slowest.

Each link is formed, soldered, shaped and finished by hand. Thereโ€™s no rushing a chain like this โ€” it takes patience, focus and care. That slow, tactile process feels perfectly matched to Januaryโ€™s quieter energy.

These chains are designed to last a lifetime, and you can feel the time that has gone into them when you wear them. No two are ever exactly the same, and thatโ€™s exactly how it should be!

W&N website is always open

While the studio may be a little quieter, my website is always open. All the pieces you see online are already made and ready to be sent, whether youโ€™re choosing something special for yourself or a meaningful gift for someone else.

A quieter studio, and time to reflect

January is a softer month for me here at Walter & Nancy. The pace changes, and instead of packing boxes for fairs, Iโ€™m planning and sitting at the bench with a little more space to think.

This quieter rhythm is important. Itโ€™s where new ideas form, where designs evolve, and where I can really focus on the craft behind each piece. I love this part of the year โ€” it feels like the calm after the storm, and a chance to realign with why I make what I do. Itโ€™s a chance for me to play with ideas and try out new pieces with time to work on refining them.

Looking ahead

January may be slow, but itโ€™s full of quiet intention. I am excited to see how new designs take shape over the coming weeks and to keep sharing the behind-the-scenes of life in the studio with you.

Thank you for being part of the Walter & Nancy journey โ€” whether you found me at a fair, online, or through a recommendation. I am so grateful to have you here as I begin another year of thoughtful, handmade jewellery.

Have a wonderfully restorative January!
